The company
What it does
BMW Group is a German automotive and financial-services company. Its main vehicle brands are BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce; it also makes motorcycles under BMW Motorrad and provides financing and mobility services.
Across markets
BMW Group reports that it sold 2.46 million cars in 2025, generated €133.5 billion in revenue and employed 154,540 people. Its cars were sold in 140 markets. Battery-electric vehicles made up 17.9% of deliveries, according to the group’s 2025 report. That gives the company reach across a large production and supplier network as the auto industry shifts toward electrification. The transition has a substantial material and climate footprint: BMW reported 128.35 million tonnes of CO₂e across its value chain in 2025, 5.5% below its retrospectively adjusted 2024 figure. Scope 3 accounted for 99.4% of the total, with emissions linked to the supply chain and use of vehicles. The company’s report therefore shows progress alongside the scale of the work still ahead; its delivery and emissions figures are company-reported measures.

What the record tells us
TIME named BMW to its 2024 TIME100 Most Influential Companies list, citing the company’s continued investment in electric vehicles while some rivals slowed their plans. Fortune ranked BMW Group No. 23 in the 2025 World’s Most Admired Companies All-Stars list, a corporate-reputation survey. These are different forms of recognition: TIME is an editorial placement and Fortune is a survey ranking; neither is a judged trophy award. The TIME entry counts as one provisional list point in the current ledger. Fortune’s result remains under programme review and earns no points at this stage. Forbes placed BMW Group at No. 81 in its 2025 Global 2000, a size-based ranking that the methodology excludes from award counts. WCRC’s 2026 World’s Most Powerful 100 Brands list places the BMW brand at No. 29; the brand-to-parent-company attribution remains under review, and the edition is outside the 2001–2025 scoring window. The WCRC link is included for the brand record, not as a company award claim.
