The waste-management challenge
Food waste commonly enters disposal streams even where organic material could be managed separately. The Waste Lab, a women-owned enterprise based in Dubai, was established to collect and process organic waste and support composting and soil restoration.
The enterprise decision
The Waste Lab expanded its initial household-focused service into commercial collection and composting solutions for businesses and events. The company describes both off-site and on-site composting services, together with training and environmental reporting.
Documented and company-reported evidence
The company website reports cumulative totals as of July 2025 of more than 4.8 million kilograms of food scraps rescued and 167 partners onboarded. These are company-published figures. Dubai World Trade Centre’s 2023 ESG report documents its composting partnership with The Waste Lab, providing evidence of commercial use from a customer.
What the service needs to prove
Moving from households to commercial customers changes collection volumes and service demands. Further research should check customer retention and financial sustainability, alongside verified diversion from landfill and the method used to calculate carbon-equivalent savings.
Premier Brands view
The Waste Lab’s service depends on what happens before collection as well as during composting. Customers have to separate food scraps properly; collection and reporting then give them a way to track what happens to that material.
